Our Mission

To facilitate the voluntary adoption of healthy and nutritious behaviors conducive to the health and well being of limited resource families and individuals in West Virginia.

Our Vision

The West Virginia Family Nutrition Program (FNP) is a community based nutrition education program that encourages limited resource consumers to choose and prepare healthy, safe, and affordable foods. FNP employs Nutrition Outreach Instructors (paraprofessionals) to deliver experiential, research based lessons in nutrition and physical activity. County Extension Agents provide leadership and supervision for the instructors.

The FNP is funded through the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program and the Food Stamp Nutrition Education program.

Programs and activities offered by the West Virginia University Extension Service are available to all persons without regard to race, color, sex, disability, religion, age, veteran status, political beliefs, sexual orientation, national origin, and martial or family status.

Issued in furtherance of Cooperative Extension work, Acts of May 8 and June 30, 1914, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, David E. Miller, Director, Cooperative Extension Service, West Virginia University.

West Virginia University is governed by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and the WVU Board of Governors.
